Brian K. Crossen ’08G, a chemistry teacher at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Mass., won a $25,000 grant for the school through a nationwide contest by making a video promoting the use of seat belts.

The competition, “Celebrate My Drive,” sponsored by State Farm, offered schools the chance to win a concert by singer Kelly Clarkson and cash prizes in exchange for promoting safe driving. The winners were chosen through online voting. Bishop Feehan finished 19th in the nation.

Crossen wrote, directed, and starred in the four-minute video. Wearing a Kelly Clarkson T-shirt and seated behind a steering wheel, he sang his own song, “Check My Belt,” to the tune of her song “Catch My Breath.” The video can be found on YouTube.

Crossen, who earned a master’s degree in education through PC’s Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) Program, has taught at Feehan for eight years. He is the Student Council moderator and coaches the freshman boys’ soccer team.

The school will use the $25,000 for a traffic and safety study.
