IN MEMORIAM: Alice McDonald Macintosh ’76Hon.

Alice McDonald Macintosh ’76Hon., the first female member of the Providence College Corporation, died August 31, 2013. She was the wife of the late Henry Havelock Macintosh.

A native of Providence, Mrs. Macintosh studied banking at Northwestern University, the University of Wisconsin, and Simmons College. She was the first female vice president of Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank and used her contacts to connect the College to the business community. In 1971, Mrs. Macintosh became the first woman to serve on the PC Corporation. In 1976, PC awarded her an honorary doctor of business administration degree.

She is survived by three nephews and a niece. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 6 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Warwick, R.I.
