In Memoriam: Rose M. Kennedy; served as library clerk for 29 years

IM kennedy, rose V2Rose M. (Mitchroney) Kennedy, a retired chief acquisitions assistant who served Phillips Memorial Library for nearly 30 years, died on May 22, 2015.

Mrs. Kennedy was hired as a circulation clerk in Phillips Memorial Library in 1983. Over the years, she also served as library technical assistant (acquisitions), senior acquisitions clerk, collections services assistant, and as chief acquisitions assistant. She retired from the latter position in 2012.

Mrs. Kennedy was a novice with the Sisters of Our Lady of Providence as a young woman. During the 1960s, she worked at the Providence Public Library. A licensed massage therapist, she was a 1994 graduate of the Benjamin School of Massage.

She also served as a first responder for the City of Warwick, R.I., where she lived since 1968, and was a Eucharistic minister at St. Peter Church.

A Providence native, Mrs. Kennedy was the wife of Patrick A. Kennedy. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, three nieces, and a nephew. She was the mother of the late David P. Kennedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Peter Church, Warwick.
