William J. Speck ’72

The track at Cranston High School West in Cranston, R.I., was renamed in memory of William J. Speck ’72. A standout member of the PC cross country team, he placed seventh in the 1971 Boston Marathon, completing the course in 2:23:54. Mr. Speck worked for the Rhode Island Office on Aging and helped establish running programs in Cranston. After he died in 2003, his daughter, Juliette Speck de Roxas ’99, organized an annual 5K race in his memory.
