Order’s Up: More Men in Formation in Dominican Province

The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia isn’t the only religious order that’s flourishing.

The Dominican Province of St. Joseph, the order that founded and staffs Providence College, has 70 young men in formation — the highest number in decades.

Fifty-two men are studying for the priesthood at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. Eighteen novice brothers are at the novitiate Priory of St. Gertrude in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sixteen are candidates for the priesthood, and two are candidates to remain brothers and full members of the Order without being ordained.

Among the 52 in Washington are Robert Sica ’10, now Brother John Sica, O.P., and Robert Murphy ’10, now Brother Athanasius Murphy, O.P.
