Emily Sisson ’14 (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Laura Nagel ’14 (Napier, New Zealand) earned First and Second Team All-America honors, respectively, at the NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship in Albuquerque, N.M., in March. Sisson placed eighth in a time of 16:34.18 in the 5,000-meter run, while Nagel finished 13th in 9:37.84 in the 3,000. Including cross country, Sisson now has been named an All-American eight times in her PC career, and Nagel has earned four All-America accolades.

Sisson, who also was named the 2013 BIG EAST Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, and Nagel were the women’s cross country team’s top finishers when the Friars claimed the 2013 NCAA Championship. Accolades continue to roll in for that team. In February, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named Head Coach Ray Treacy ’82’s team the women’s Division I Scholar Team of the Year. The honor goes to the highest-finishing team, among the 271 programs in the country, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. With five individual All-Academic selections, the Friars turned in a 3.38 GPA.

In addition, the statewide Rhode Island sports writers, sportscasters, and sports publicists organization, Words Unlimited, named PC the 2013 Team of the Year. That group also named Treacy the Coach of the Year and Sisson the Female Athlete of the Year.
