Natalie R. Seigle; retired English professor specialized in business communications

Natalie (Rosen) Seigle, a retired associate professor of English who taught at PC for 16 years, died on May 11, 2016, at age 96.

Mrs. Seigle joined the College faculty in 1969 and taught part time until 1973. She then became a full-time instructor in business communications, within the English department. She was promoted to assistant professor in 1979 and to associate professor in 1984, retiring in 1985.

seigleimMrs. Seigle was the author of the widely used textbook, Dynamics in Business Communications, and wrote numerous papers and articles that were published in business communications journals.

Born in Providence, R.I., she lived in the city until 1985, when she retired to Longboat Key, Fla. Yet, she continued teaching for many years there, first as the instructor of a class, Writing Your Personal Memoir. She also taught Contemporary Israeli Women Writers at Temple Beth Israel.

Mrs. Seigle attended Pembroke College (now Brown University) and graduated from Simmons College in Boston, Mass., in 1944. She earned a master’s degree in English from the University of Rhode Island in 1965.

Mrs. Seigle was the husband of the late Saul Seigle. She is survived by her son, Richard, and daughter, Betsy; four grandchildren; and five grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at Lincoln Cemetery in Warwick, R.I. Donations in her memory may be made to the Natalie R. and Saul Seigle Scholarship Fund at Providence College, in care of the Office of Institutional Advancement, 1 Cunningham Square, Providence, R.I., 02918-0001.
