2021 Academic Convocation
The Academic Convocation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 3 p.m. in the Peterson Recreation Center.
Academic Convocation, which marks the official opening of the academic year, will welcome new members of our community – students in the Class of 2025, transfer students, and new faculty members. On Convocation day, the College will follow an abbreviated class schedule. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Robin J. Greene an associate professor of history and classics and the 2020-2021 Joseph R. Accinno Faculty Teaching Award recipient.

2020-21 Joseph R. Accinno Faculty Teaching Award Recipient

Dr. Robin J. Greene is an associate professor of history and Classics and the 2020-21 Joseph R. Accinno Faculty Teaching Award recipient. This prestigious award is presented annually to a Providence College faculty member who best exhibits excellence in teaching, passion and enthusiasm for learning, and genuine concern for students’ academic and personal growth.
A member of the PC faculty since 2012, Dr. Greene teaches in the DWC program, courses on ancient history, literature, and mythology, and all levels of Latin and Greek courses. A noted classics scholar with research interests that include Greek poetry, Greek historiography, and ancient natural history, she is a frequently published author, an active participant in conferences around the world, and a member of several professional Classics’ organizations.
