2022 Phi Beta Kappa installation
On Tuesday, April 26, 57 Providence College students were inducted in Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society for the liberal arts and sciences in the United States.
Phi Beta Kappa formally issued a charter for the college’s chapter, to be known as Gamma of Rhode Island, in 2021. The chapter was formally installed at the ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the organization’s national leadership.
In addition, nine foundation members were inducted:
- Wanda Ingram, Ed.D. ’75, senior associate dean of undergraduate students
- Teresa A. Lavoie, J.D., Ph.D. ’89, trustee
- Terza Silva Lima-Neves, Ph.D. ’00, associate professor of political science at Johnson C. Smith University and 2020 MLK Vision Award recipient
- Ann Manchester-Molak, M.A. ’75, executive vice president of Providence College
- John J. Partridge, Esq. ’61, ’11Hon., member, Providence President’s Council and Liberal Arts Honors Program Leadership Council
- Jane Lunin Perel, M.F.A. ’15Hon., professor emerita of English and of women’s studies
- Michael A. Ruane, M.B.A. ’71, ’13Hon., trustee emeritus
- Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P., Ph.D. ’80, Providence College’s 12th president
- College President Rev. Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P., Ph.D. ’78, ’82G
