Student’s AI-generated film featured at BIG EAST Tournament
A Providence College student’s film, “Beyond the Tides,” was featured during the BIG EAST Animation Showcase at the women’s basketball tournament at Mohegan Sun in March.
Charlotte Tagliamonte ’26, a marketing major and sociology minor, created the film as part of Art & Tech, a course taught in the fall by Bing Huang, Ph.D., associate professor of art history. Tagliamonte, who enjoys video production and hopes to pursue a career in advertising, said she learned a lot about artificial intelligence software while putting this movie together.
She used Midjourney Discord to generate individual scenes, then used Runway to transform those images into video clips. “After assembling and editing the footage, I enhanced the final product with a narrator’s voiceover and background music from Artlist.io,” Tagliamonte said.
Joan Branham, professor of art history and associate provost for faculty affairs, nominated Tagliamonte’s film for the showcase. Beyond the Tides
