Dear Friars,
It is a tremendous honor to serve as president of the Providence College National Alumni Association.
Every Friar has a story of their own.
I am a proud member of the undergraduate class of 1974, the graduate class of 1978, and the SCE class of 1982, so Providence College has been part of my story for more than five decades. I’ve experienced PC as a student, alumnus, parent, staff member, volunteer, and now president of the National Alumni Association. Each role has given me a different way to stay connected to the college and to the generations of Friars who have followed.
I am excited to serve alongside our newly-elected executive vice president, Kathryn Lamontagne Ph.D. ’01, and our dedicated Alumni Council — a passionate and diverse group of volunteers who represent more than 62,000 alumni around the world. The council serves as the representative body of the Alumni Association, creating meaningful opportunities helping to guide engagement efforts, amplify alumni voices, and build bridges between Friars of all generations, backgrounds, and regions. Their commitment to service and connection is a testament to the enduring strength of our community.
As we begin a new academic year, I’d like to ask every alumnus to take one action to stay engaged with Providence College this year.
- Come home. Join us for Homecoming Weekend October 2 – 4 and reconnect with classmates, friends, faculty and the campus that helped shape your journey.
- Volunteer with your regional alumni club, support initiatives like the Friars of Color Alumni Network, serve as a Class Ambassador, or help a student or fellow Friar through our career platform, FriarHub.
- Give. Invest in today’s students with a gift through The Fund for Providence College, PC’s annual fund, and strengthen the opportunities that shape their time on campus and prepare them for what comes next.
- Stay Connected. Update your contact information, submit a class note, and make sure you’re receiving the latest news and opportunities from the college.
No matter which action you choose, your connection to Providence College continues long after graduation. Staying engaged keeps you part of the PC story while shaping what comes next for future generations of Friars. Through Beyond Limits: The Campaign for Providence College, we have set an ambitious goal of engaging 70 percent of our alumni community, and every Friar has a role to play.
For those who remember me from my years working on campus, no, you’re not in trouble. I’m reaching out because I believe deeply in the power of our alumni community and the impact we can have when we stay connected to one another and to Providence College.
Thank you for all you do to keep the Friar spirit alive. I look forward to meeting many of you in the year ahead and hope to see you back on campus this Homecoming.
