The wind for our sails

Dear friends,

The conclusion of both Our Moment: The Next Century Campaign for Providence College and our centennial celebration brings us to the dawn of a new era. We begin our second century a confident institution, revitalized and invigorated.

The campaign’s success, which we are pleased to report in this special edition of Providence College Magazine, is attributable to God’s grace and the support of more than 35,000 donors who honored us with campaign gifts. As a community, we have achieved something wonderful, and we are grateful to each person who has provided support.

The campaign has transformed PC, and it has set us on a course for an even brighter future. We have become more competitive in every way, — in our revitalized academic program, in the quality of the faculty we have added to our community of scholars, in the caliber of students we recruit and admit, in the success of our athletics teams, in our mission-based student-life programming, and in our exceptional facilities. At the same time, PC remains — in the most important respects — the place it has always been. We have high expectations of our students, and we are committed to ensuring that they thrive. We are a family, united by the pursuit of truth in a community built upon a foundation of Catholic and Dominican ideals. We value character and integrity — characteristics drawn, in large part, from the example of our alumni.

This is no time to rest, as we are working every day to make sure that Providence College is positioned for sustainable success. But the Our Moment campaign has provided wind for our sails, and, with your continued support, I am confident that our brightest days are ahead.

I wish each of you God’s most abundant blessings.

Sincerely,

Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. ’80
