Celebrating the life of Rev. John S. Peterson, O.P. ’57

In song, prayer, and meditation, and with a profound sense of gratitude, the Providence College family gathered in St. Dominic Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 18, for the Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Rev. John S. Peterson, O.P. ’57. Principal celebrant Very Rev. Kenneth R. Letoile, O.P. ’70, prior provincial of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, was accompanied on the altar by approximately 30 Dominican Friars and visiting clergy. Father Peterson, who died a week earlier, served PC for more than 50 years and is best remembered for his genuine pastoral care and warmth. We invite you to reflect on his legacy as you view this video, including remarks beginning at 14:12 by homilist Rev. James F. Quigley, O.P. ’60, associate chaplain of the PC National Alumni Association.
