Retired Senior Vice President, Managing Partner-Asia, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Inc.
Honorary Doctor of Business Administration
Ronald P. Stride ’62 is the retired senior vice president and managing partner-Asia for Booz Allen & Hamilton, a management consulting firm specializing in financial services. During his 22-year career he was based mainly in Singapore, where he maintains a home. Since retiring, he has served in several senior advisory positions at major financial institutions in Southeast Asia.

Through his many years living abroad, Mr. Stride remained engaged with Providence College, consistently and generously providing philanthropic support and traveling great distances to participate in class reunions. He and his wife, Janet, established the Ronald and Janet Stride Family Scholarship Fund in 2017, motivated by a desire to provide promising students with a chance for educational opportunity. The scholarship provides support for PC students with financial need and academic merit with a preference for students who graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, Mr. Stride’s alma mater. In 2021, the Strides began offering three scholarships covering full tuition, room, and board for PC students.
Mr. Stride was a general studies major at PC and spent two years in the Navy following graduation. He then worked in application systems development for United Airlines in Chicago, where he met his wife, a Chicago native. In 1968, he joined System Development Corporation, a pioneer computer software company. He joined Booz Hamilton Allen in 1978.
Since 2011, Mr. Stride has been chair of Food from the Heart, a Singapore-based grassroots organization serving low-income people by providing bread and nonperishable food items that otherwise would have been discarded. Mr. Stride was board chair of Afghanistan International Bank from 2008-2020 and president of the American Association of Singapore from 2008-2012.
Besides Singapore, the Strides have resided in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. They are collectors of Asian art — paintings, textiles, ceramics, jewelry, carpets, and the kris, a traditional Malaysian dagger with a wavy blade. Their collection has been featured in international newspapers and books.
In February 2025, the Strides were recognized by the American Association of Singapore for their outstanding contribution and service to the American and Singapore communities. Mr. Stride was awarded the Personal Achievement Award from PC’s National Alumni Association in 2017 in recognition of his career and charitable accomplishments.
