Etzer Lindor ’26 reflects on his Friartown experience
The summer before he enrolled, Etzer Lindor ’26 filled out a card at his First Day in Friartown about what he hoped to find at Providence College. Four years later, the biology and health policy and management double major from Dennis, Massachusetts, reflects on what he discovered in Friartown, including his experiences with scientific research, tutoring, mentorship, and international service.
Lindor was a research assistant in the lab of Brett J. Pellock, Ph.D., associate professor of biology, and placed second in the STEM category at the 2026 BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Symposium. He served as a mentor and coordinator for the Horizons Program, assisting students with their transition to college life, and worked closely with Emily Gonzalez ’23G, associate director of orientation, transitions, and leadership. Lindor, a member of the Honors Program, also tutored biology on campus as well as mathematics for Onward We Learn, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing college access in Rhode Island.
In addition, he traveled to Guatemala and New Orleans for service trips with Campus Ministry, which he describes as formative experiences. After graduating, Lindor hopes to pursue international service during a gap year before applying to medical school.
As a graduating senior, Lindor also received the Albertus Magnus Award for service of humanity through teaching and learning, particularly in the biological sciences, and the BCBSRI Future Healthcare Leaders Award.
