Francesca Bambara ’26: serving the environment and people

Francesca Bambara ’26, a global studies and sociology double major and Spanish minor from Manchester, Connecticut, achieved so much during her time in Friartown. She was co-president of ECOPC, the environmental club, a member of the president’s sustainability committee, and also served on the Rhode Island Student Climate Coalition.

Bambara revived the Friar Food Rescue Program, a chapter of the national Food Recovery Network, delivering surplus food from the college’s dining halls to Providence Rescue Mission. She served as a teaching assistant for the Justice Across Borders course, taught by Kara Cebulko, Ph.D., professor of sociology and of global studies, and a research assistant in the Caste and Inequality Lab of Trina Vithayathil, Ph.D., professor of global studies. Bambara was also a tutor through the Student Success Center and as a senior, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious honor society.
