Incoming student wins USA Today’s ‘Fly Your Flag’ contest
Bernadinio Sylvestre ’30 won third place in the high school category of USA Today’s “Fly Your Flag” civics contest. Nearly 850 students responded to the invitation to “create flag designs that sought to capture not just what America means to them, but a flag that also represents the values and ideals of the country they want to live in.” Sylvestre, who plans to study marketing at Providence College, recorded this video while participating in the Friar Foundations Program. He submitted his entry as a senior at Charette High School in Providence. USA Today partnered with SUNN, a non-partisan organization publishing student journalism, for the competition, which was inspired by the 250th anniversary of the United States.
