Looking back on a year of COVID-19

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared that infections of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, had reached pandemic levels. On that day, Providence College announced it would shift to remote classes after spring break — a move that ultimately was extended for the rest of the spring semester.

During this year, we all have mourned the loss of too many lives and milestones, but there have been some moments of joy and silver linings as well. Take a look at these excerpts of reflections from PC students, faculty, and staff recorded for the RI COVID-19 Archive, a project of the Rhode Island Historical Society and the Providence Public Library. Phillips Memorial Library’s Archives and Special Collections contributed PC voices to this statewide initiative. PC’s archives also collected materials in the spring as part of its Archiving COVID Project.
