Nick Sailor ’17 — A believer in caring and sharing

Nick Sailor ’17 (Bloomfield, Conn.) passed along a lot more than a soccer ball during his undergraduate career at Providence College. A four-year member of the men’s soccer team and a co-captain his senior year, he distinguished himself on the field and off, including the classroom. He double-majored in sociology and women’s studies, carried a minor in black studies, and will graduate as the first male women’s studies major in College history.

Sailor can reflect on a legacy of exceptional accomplishment and character as his days as a Friar undergraduate dwindle. Known for his upbeat manner and work ethic, he served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and as a Friar Foundations mentor, sang with the Footprints Gospel Choir, and earned two awards as a student-athlete this academic year: the Department of Athletics’ Mal Brown Award for sportsmanship, courage, and honor, and the soccer team’s Father Moseley Champion of Character Award. Sailor now will pass along his talents, knowledge, and spirit to schoolchildren in Baltimore, where he has committed to work with Teach For America.
