PC in DC 2024

This year, 10 students traveled to Washington, D.C., in May to meet with alumni as part of the PC in DC program. They got to visit iconic locations such as the Pentagon and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and learned about careers in politics, law, finance, media, the arts, and healthcare.

Day 1

Students visited the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to meet Jonathan Earle ’03, deputy chief of the special operations division, and Marianna Mitchem ’04, associate assistant director of industry operations in the field operations bureau.

Day 2

At Arnold & Porter, a DC law firm, students met former Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd ’66, ’83Hon., and Jocelyn Weisner ’07, counsel. They were joined by Dodd’s classmate, Kevin C. Phelan ’66, ’15Hon., a member of PC’s Board of Trustees.

They got to know Jeff Conroy ’88, a healthcare entrepreneur and CEO of the Operator Relief Fund, which helps veterans with PTSD and other trauma. He is a longtime leadership supporter of the PC in DC Program.

They attended the Capital Area Summer Networking Night at Altria, hosted by David Sylvia ’90, the company’s senior director, public policy and stakeholder development.

Day 3

The students went to the Rayburn House Office Building to meet U.S. Congressman Gabe Amo, who represents Rhode Island’s first district, and his chief of staff, Alex Nelson.

PC trustee Andre Owens ’85 hosted the group at the law firm WilmerHale, where he is a partner. They also met with alums from Sidley Austin: Dan Atchue ’14, a staff attorney, and partners Kevin Campion ’94 and Elizabeth Marino ’99.
