Define Providence, a new series of student recruitment publications from Providence College, has won the prestigious Gold Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The award-winning marketing materials included a mailer for sophomore and junior high school students; a brochure about PC’s academic rigor; an insider’s short guide to the college (often called a “roadpiece” by admission professionals); and the College’s annual prospectus, or “viewbook.” The latter also won a Silver Circle of Excellence Award as an individual publication.

The suite of publications was developed by the Division of Marketing and Communications in collaboration with the Office of Admission. The in-house teams were working fully off-site during production due to the safety protocols in Rhode Island related to the pandemic.

Judges noted, “It’s rare to find recruitment pieces where both the text and design are used in tandem to tell the overall story, but that’s what Providence does so well throughout this campaign. The visuals are not just compelling but are used strategically to carry the Providence story and personality throughout its pieces.”

The 2021 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards received almost 3,000 entries from 27 countries. Those entries came from 530 institutions for consideration across 100 categories. Honors were given for work completed during 2020 and announced in June 2021.

These latest accolades are in addition to four honors in the 2021 CASE (Regional) District 1 Excellence Awards, including one gold and three silver wins for work produced by the Division of Marketing and Communications and the Office of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations.
