Welcome Letter from Father Sicard
Dear Members of the Providence College Community,
As we begin another academic year at Providence College, I find myself reflecting on the power of unity and shared purpose — values deeply rooted in the life and legacy of our patron, St. Dominic.
St. Dominic believed that truth was best pursued in community, through dialogue and communication and with a spirit of mutual support. His vision gave rise to a movement that flourished not through personal ambition but through collective commitment to a greater good. That same spirit animates our work today.
Providence College is at a pivotal moment, a new beginning shaped by our heritage and catalyzed by our aspirations. With confidence and clarity, we look ahead to a future marked by distinction and impact.
We enter the 2025-26 academic year with remarkable momentum. Over the past year, we celebrated the opening of the Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences, introduced new majors in communication and data science, and launched men’s and women’s golf programs that will begin competition this fall. Developments like these happened while, day in and day out, our students and faculty were thriving in pursuit of their own goals as part of a community of teachers and learners seeking truth.
To sustain and accelerate our progress, we introduced last year our most ambitious fundraising initiative to date, Beyond Limits: The Campaign for Providence College. With a goal of $300 million, this campaign is designed to enhance academic excellence, enrich campus life, expand access and affordability, and strengthen The Fund for Providence College. We are proud to share that we have already raised $193 million toward this goal.
This campaign comes at a critical time. As higher education faces increasing competition and shifting demographics, the strength of an institution lies in its ability to attract and retain exceptional students, faculty, and staff. Beyond Limits is our commitment to securing Providence College’s place as a rising national leader.
And so, inspired by the example of St. Dominic, I invite each of you to walk together with us in pursuit of our shared vision. Your participation in the Beyond Limits campaign, and your belief in what it represents, will help shape the future of Providence College and amplify its impact on the world.
As we welcome the Class of 2029 to campus, I wish all members of the Friar family a safe, productive, and inspiring start to the academic year. May God’s providence continue to guide and bless our community.
Sincerely,

Rev. Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P. ’78, ’82G
College President
