Waiting on God: An Advent Retreat

The season of Advent is an annual invitation to go on pilgrimage to the birth of Jesus. This year, the Office of Mission and Ministry invited faculty and staff to three lunchtime sessions to pray, reflect, and discuss the coming of Jesus, the light of the world, in this dark time in the Church.

The retreat focused on three of the Christmas story’s most central figures: John the Baptist, Mary, and Simeon. Each figure anticipates the coming of Jesus and in so doing reveals to us many of our own most profound spiritual longings and trials: experiences of hope and expectation, of joy and peace, and of pain and fear and discouragement.
